Through the joint efforts of the Little Falls Civic Club and the Little Falls High School Alumni Website, a former native of Little Falls is learning more of his birthplace.
Peg Scarano, a member of the Little Falls Civic Club, recently received a request in the mail from Dr. Harold Rogers of Clayton, North Carolina. Dr. Rogers’ request for DVDs came on an order form he downloaded from the Little Falls High School Alumni Website (www.lfhsalumni.org) and a note that reads as follows: “I was born in Little Falls, but we moved away in 1952 when I was one. Recently, we had a patient join our practice family and found that he too was born in Little Falls the year before me. I would like to learn more about my birthplace and so I will be looking forward to viewing the DVDs. Hopefully, my family and I can visit Little Falls in the not too distant future.”
One of the two (2) DVDs Dr. Rogers requested is a recent promotional video, whose production was initiated by First Ward Alderman Rocco Scarano and was created by HCCC staff and students entitled, “Little Falls, NY – A Renaissance City”. The other DVD is a copy from a television broadcast aired in March of 1975 featuring Tony Papaleo, a local businessman at the time and is entitled, “Little Falls – The City That Wouldn’t Die”.
These DVDs would make terrific Christmas gifts for family and friends who have any kind of connection with Little Falls and are available for $10 each at the Stone Mill located at 410 South Street in Little Falls. They may also be ordered through a form available on the Little Falls High School Alumni website. Please do not forget to include funds for shipping and handling if this is the route you choose to use.
The Little Falls Civic Club uses proceeds from the sale of these DVDs for their annual scholarship fund and for projects to promote and enhance the City of Little Falls. For more information, please feel free to contact Peg Scarano at peggyscarano1@hotmail.com.
