LITTLE FALLS, NY – The 28th annual Little Falls Canal Fest stepped off Monday with a 5k breast cancer walk.

Approximately 65 walkers laced up their sneakers for the 6th annual 5k walk.

The event helped raise money for breast cancer awareness.  The 5k course took participants throughout the community, helping them spread the word about this silent killer.

Diane Aulisi expains why she organized the event.  “I had a little scare. It turned out to be nothing, but it’s something women should be aware of.  Breast cancer is a silent disease.  You don’t know it’s there until you find it.  The only way to find it is to do self breast exams and go for a mammogram every year.”

All proceeds from the event go to fight breast cancer, here in the Mohawk Valley.

The 28th Annual Little Falls Canal Celebration is free and open to the public.  For a scedule of events taking place durring the celebration visit www.littlefallsny.com.
