On Friday and Saturday, March 3rd & 4th, The Little Falls Drama Club will be presenting Mean Girls the musical. The show, based on the 2003 movie of the same name, follows the protagonist, Cady Heron as she navigates high school, after being homeschooled in Africa. More than 100 7th-12th graders round out the cast and crew, all of whom have been working since coming back from winter break on dances, singing, painting, costumes and all the other aspects that go into such a big production.

The show is rated PG-13, because of language and content. However, the Drama Club consciously chose this show both despite and because of this difficult subject matter. The reasons behind this choice are best expressed by show writer Tina Fey. She says, “I set out to write truthfully and with humor about relational aggression among girls.  I hoped that if we could recognize this behavior in ourselves, and laugh about it, it would be easier to stop doing it. Spoiler alert: I did not fix the world! Relational aggression is still around. And it’s not just among girls. We see it everywhere, from the highest branches of government to the preschool playground. But I still believe that this story can help us cope through humor, and also now through singing.”

The show will be presented in the LF High School auditorium and will begin at 7:00 PM both nights. Tickets will be $10.00 each and sold in advance, online, as well as at the door. More info can be found on the Drama Club Facebook page or on the school’s website as we get closer to the show!
