Congratulations to Little Falls’ junior Mountie, 𝑩𝒓𝒚𝒏𝒏 𝑺𝒉𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔𝒐𝒏, who after placing 4th in her NYSPHSAA Girls State Invitational in 2023, was absolutely untouchable one year later, as she went unchallenged in her bid to hoist 152-pound hardware!!

Facing-off in a battle of national top-30 wrestlers versus defending NYSPHSAA Girls State titlist, #29 𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 (Shenendehowa), the current #22 ranked/2023 Fargo All-American [Shepardson] made a hard job look effortless as she’d anticipate what appeared to be a fireman’s attempt from the Plainswoman and countered it by driving (cow catcher) the reigning queen over to her back to earn the fall with 17 seconds remaining in the 2nd period…

Up 7-0 at the time of the mat slap, the Section III representative struck for another big sequence with a little over 1:00 remaining in the 1st period, as she’d power her way through a 50/50 situation (both had their chances to score) for the TD and then immediately turned the S2 lady with a turk + half for the full set of swipes to propel herself to the 5-0 cushion at the conclusion of 2:00….

Gretzinger being the second of a pair of 2023 State medalists that Shepardson got the better of under the room of SRC Arena, one round earlier, she’d strike from every area imaginable (3 TDs, two sets of NF, and a reversal) to come away with a 13-5 major decision versus returning Girls Invitational 5th, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐨 (Cazenovia)…

In the round of 16 and quarterfinal rounds, she (wo)manhandled the likes of 𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐲𝐧𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐧 (Harborfield) & 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚 (White Plains), pinning the former in 3:39 before goose-egging the latter by a score of 9-0 (3 TDS + 3pt NF)

Shepardson is now the answer to the trivia question, as she too carves her name in history by becoming LFHS’s first-ever NYSPHSAA State gold medalist!
