Little Falls Mourns the Loss of Lifelong Resident, Thomas Finnegan
LITTLE FALLS – Mr. Thomas J. Finnegan, 81, of 637 John Street, Little Falls, New York, passed away unexpectedly, on November 17, 2023, after a brief illness, at his home. He was born on December 27, 1941, in Little Falls, a son of the late John F. and Helen (Casey) Finnegan. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy’s Class of 1959 and a lifelong Little Falls resident. He served in the United States Marine Corps, 1959-1963 and upon honorable discharge, held the rank of Lance Corporal. He was a general machine operator at Remington Arms, for over fifty years.
Mr. Finnegan was a dedicated mentor to the children of Little Falls. He coached and he was a member of the very first little league team that he coached, Halls Motors. He coached CYO basketball at St. Mary’s having chalked up many victories, instilling his 2-2-1 press and instilling defensive skills mirrored after the early years of Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Tom completed over 25 marathons and most recently continued to serve the children of Little Falls as a crossing guard. His philosophies and commitment will always be remembered.
He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and John; and a brother, James.
